Final Year Project

Project Title

OpenDSS-based Planning of Distribution Networks

Description

The prototype developed in this project consists of two parts: creating a DSS script to represent a circuit and editing the interface using a Python application. The OpenDSS block performs load flow analysis on the system and requires input in the form of a DSS file, which specifies the system parameters necessary for power flow analysis. Writing the DSS file can be challenging and is typically done in Delphi, a now unsupported programming language. The Python shell allows the user to interact with the DSS engine and make changes to the system under study without the need to directly work with the Delphi code. The ultimate goal is to develop a time-varying Python-OpenDSS programmatic distribution planning analysis that can be reported and published or used to conclude the project.
